His Excellency Peter Taksoe-Jensen

Peter Taksoe-Jensen became Abassador of Denmark to the United States on Sept. 16, 2010 having previously served as assistant secretary-general for legal affairs at the United Nations since 2008.

Ambassador Taksoe-Jensen has also served various postings in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including undersecretary for legal affairs and head of the Legal Service (2003-08), head of section at the Department for Legal Service (1999-2003), and head of section at the Department for Security Policy (1992-95).

In addition, he was counselor (1999) and head of section (1995-99) for the Permanent Representation of Denmark to the European Union, as well as first secretary at the Royal Danish Embassy in Vienna (1989-92), prior to which he was head of section at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1988-89) and at the Danish Ministry of Justice (1986-87). Other activities include chairman of the Danish Governments Commission on the Red Cross (2007-08) and lecturer for numerous courses on EU law, policies and negotiations, and procedures and techniques (1999-2008).
