His Excellency Väino Reinart
Väino Reinart became ambassador of Estonia to the United States on Aug. 15, 2007.

Ambassador Reinart previously served as ambassador and permanent representative to the European Union (2002-07), deputy undersecretary for political affairs (2001-02) and director-general of the Political Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2001). He was also ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (1995-99) and ambassador and chief negotiator for the Estonian-Russian negotiations in 1994. In addition, Ambassador Reinart held various postings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including political director (1995), head of the Division of International Organizations and Security Policy (1993), counselor in the Political Department (1993), secretary-general (1992), and executive assistant to the culture minister (1990). Prior to that, from 1984 to 1988, he was an engineer and research associate at the Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences.

Ambassador Reinart graduated from Tallinn Technical University in radio-electronics, completed his post-graduate studies in physics at the Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, and took an international training course on security policy and arms control at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva.

He is married to Kaire Jürgenson.
