Austria
Hans Kordik assumed the position of consul on Sept. 3.
Brig. Gen. Peter Resch assumed the position of defense, military, naval and air attaché on Sept. 1, replacing Brig. Gen. Guntmar Heck, who departed the post on Feb. 28.
Estonia
Väino Reinart became ambassador of Estonia to the United States on Aug. 15. Ambassador Reinart previously served as ambassador and permanent representative to the European Union (2002-07), deputy undersecretary for political affairs (2001-02) and director-general of the Political Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2001). He was also ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (1995-99) and ambassador and chief negotiator for the Estonian-Russian negotiations in 1994. In addition, Ambassador Reinart held various postings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including political director (1995), head of the Division of International Organizations and Security Policy (1993), counselor in the Political Department (1993), secretary-general (1992), and executive assistant to the culture minister (1990). Prior to that, from 1984 to 1988, he was an engineer and research associate at the Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. Ambassador Reinart graduated from Tallinn Technical University in radio-electronics, completed his post-graduate studies in physics at the Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, and took an international training course on security policy and arms control at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. He is married to Kaire Jürgenson.
Finland
Pekka Hako assumed the position of cultural counselor on Sept. 3, replacing Tuula Yrjö-Koskinen-Smith, who departed the post on March 9.
Kari Mokko assumed the position of press counselor on Aug. 20, replacing Kristiina Helenius, who departed the post on July 30.
Hungary
Teréz Dehelánné Dörömbözi departed the post of counselor on July 31.
Barbara Deákné Faragó assumed the position of second secretary on Sept. 1, having previously worked at the Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Ministry of Defense. She earned bachelors and masters degrees in Canada.
Mihály Korintus departed the post of counselor on Aug. 30.
Attila Tóth assumed the position of third secretary, agricultural attaché on Sept. 1 having previously worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development since 2001.
Ireland
Michael Collins became ambassador of Ireland to the United States in July. In addition to having played a central role in Northern Irelands peace process in the Office of the Prime Minister (Taoiseach), Ambassador Collins previously served as ambassador to the Czech Republic (1999-2001) and to Saudi Arabia (1995-99), with nonresidential status to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. Hes also served as a counselor at the Irish Embassy in Washington, first secretary at the Consulate General in New York, and third secretary at the Irish Embassy in Italy. Other postings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs include counselor at the press and Anglo-Irish divisions, first secretary in the political and Anglo-Irish divisions, and third secretary.
Adrian McDaid assumed the position of counselor (political) on Aug. 13, having previously served in Irish embassies in Russia and Iraq, as well as the Irish Permanent Mission to the European Union, the Irish Consulate General in New York, and the Irish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Alison Kelly departed the post of counselor (disarmament) in August.
Luxembourg
Nicolas Mackel assumed the position of deputy chief of mission on Sept. 1, replacing Paul Schmit, who departed the post on Aug. 30.
Moldova
Andrei Galbur assumed the position of deputy chief of mission, minister-counselor, on Sept. 5, replacing Alexandra Dobreanschi, who departed the post on Aug. 1. Galbur previously served as director of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-07) and as first secretary in the Embassy of Moldova in Austria (2000-04).
