Albania
Mira Schneider assumed the position of second secretary on Sept. 16. She previously served as second secretary at the Albanian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and a desk officer in the Press and Information Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cape Verde
Margarete Lima assumed the position of second secretary on Sept. 4.
Carlos Semedo assumed the position of second secretary on June 18.
Gregorio Semedo departed the post of first secretary on July 29.
Czech Republic
Ivo Broskevic assumed the position of cultural second secretary on Oct. 1. Broskevic, who graduated from Charles University in Prague, has worked as a teacher for more than 20 years. Since November 2000, Broskevic worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague.
Marcel Sauer departed the post of third secretary on Oct. 3
Gambia
Essa Bokarr Sey became the ambassador of the Gambia to the United States on Aug. 1, replacing John Paul Bojang, who departed in May to become the ambassador to Taiwan. Ambassador Sey previously served as the ambassador to Taiwan.
Hungary
András Bácsi-Nagy assumed the position of press and information second secretary in September.
Gábor Csaba departed the post of second secretary in July.
Károly Dán assumed the position of second secretary in September.
Vilmos Hamikus assumed the position of second secretary in September.
András Roboz departed the post of science and technology second secretary in August.
András Simonyi became the ambassador of Hungary to the United States in September, replacing Géza Jeszenszky, who departed in August.
István Takács assumed the position of science and technology counselor in August.
Gábor Turi departed the post of press and information counselor in August.
Kenya
Mohamed Abdi Gello assumed the position of political first secretary on May 21. Gello joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 1987. Before his current assignment, he served as the deputy chief of protocol and head of the education and training division. He also served as education attaché at the Kenya High Commission in India from 1987 to 1994 and as a graduate teacher from 1984 to 1986. Gello holds a bachelors degree in education from the University of Nairobi and a masters degree in international studies from the University of London. He also holds a diploma in international law and diplomacy from the Indian Academy of International Law and Diplomacy.
Laos
Kongthong Brianeng departed the post of administrative and financial third secretary on Aug. 27.
Vansa Launhiada assumed the position of counselor on Aug. 19. Since 1980, Launhiada has served as deputy director general, an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and first, second and third secretaries to the Embassy of Laos in Russia, Bulgaria and China. In 1979, he graduated from the Pedagogic Institute in Russia.
Phouvanh Moukdahane departed the post of consular third secretary on Aug. 27.
Bounleua Phandanouvong assumed the position of consular third secretary on Aug. 19.
Thonglung Sayavong departed the post of first secretary on Aug. 27
Phousavanh Souphany assumed the position of consular third secretary on Aug. 19.
Turkey
Mehmet Ali Bayar departed the post of first secretary in May.
Yunus Demirer assumed the position of first secretary on Oct. 1, replacing Cihad Erginay, who departed the post on Sept. 15.
Oguzhan Ertugrul assumed the position of first secretary on Oct. 1. Ertugrul joined the Foreign Service in 1991, previously serving in Cairo (1994-1997) and Athens (1997-1999) and more recently at the Office of the Chief Foreign Policy Adviser to the President.
Timur Soylemez assumed the position of first secretary on Sept. 15, replacing Bogas Guldere, who departed the post on July 15.
Tugay Tuncer departed the post of first secretary on July 1.
Semih Turgut assumed the position of third secretary on Oct. 1, replacing Cemalettin Aydin, who departed the post on Oct. 7.
Zambia
Mable Ikachana assumed the position of third secretary (personal secretary) on Aug. 3, replacing Teresa T. Malilwe, who departed the post on Aug. 9.
Frank Mbewe assumed the position of accounts second secretary on Sept. 6, replacing Paul Mulenga, who departed the post on Sept. 23.
CORRECTION
Ambassador of Tanzania Andrew Mhando Daraja held posts within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tanzania and the Tanzanian Permanent Mission to the United Nationsnot the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kenya or the Kenyan Permanent Mission as stated in the October appointments section.
Ravinatha Aryasinha, minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, is currently reading for his doctorate in international relations from American Universityhe has not yet earned his doctorate as stated in the October appointments section.
