Bolivia
• Veronica Querejazu assumed the position of counselor on Nov. 1, having previously served as alternate executive director at the World Bank.

Croatia
• Neven Jurica became ambassador of Croatia to the United States on Sept. 15. Most recently, Ambassador Jurica served as a member of the Croatian Parliament and chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee. In addition, he served as ambassador to Norway (1998-2000), Bulgaria (1996-97), and Australia and New Zealand (1992-95), as well as spokesman for the government (1997-98). In Croatia’s first democratic election in 1990, Ambassador Jurica was elected to Parliament, serving as chairman of the Human Rights Committee (1990-92), before which he served as a founding member and political secretary of the Croatian Democratic Union. Ambassador Jurica has published more than 16 books on literary theory, criticism, and anthologies of essays and poems. He also directed the prestigious forum “Literary Friday.” Ambassador Jurica holds a degree in comparative literature and philosophy and a master’s degree in literary theory from the University of Zagreb. He is fluent in English and French and is married with two children.

Czech Republic
• Ivana Klanova assumed the position of vice consul on Oct. 18.
• Richard Krpac departed the post of consul on Oct. 14.

Democratic Republic of Congo
• Chiza Chiva assumed the position of counselor in November.

Indi a
• Ronen Sen became ambassador of India to the United States on Sept. 15. Ambassador Sen, who joined the Foreign Service in 1966, previously served as high commissioner to the United Kingdom (2002-04), and ambassador to Germany (1998-2002), Russia (1992-98) and Mexico (1991-92). In addition, he served as joint secretary to the Indian prime minister (1986-91), joint secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (1984-85) and secretary to the Atomic Energy Commission of India. From 1968 to 1984, he also held posts in Moscow, San Francisco and Dhaka. Ambassador Sen, who has had several assignments as special envoy for the prime minister, has participated in summit meetings with the United Nations, Commonwealth, Non-Aligned Movement, Six Nation Five Continent Peace Initiative, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, International Atomic Energy Agency, G-15 and other forums, as well as more than 160 bilateral summit meetings. He is married with one daughter.

Macedonia
• Col. Zlatko Onchevski assumed the position of defense, military and air attaché on Aug. 1, replacing Col. Bogoslav Leskarovski, who departed the post on July 6.
