The Washington Diplomat Sponsers First Embassy Golf Tournament
by Anna Gawel
On Sept. 30, The Washington Diplomat sponsored the first Embassy Golf Tournament at the 18-championship-hole Cross Creek Golf Club in Beltsville, Md.
The successful event drew a wide range of representatives from the diplomatic and business community in Washington, all of whom came together to enjoy a day of golf, food, drink and networking with colleagues.
The tournament was sponsored by the George Washington University Hospital and Moore Cadillac, which offered up a Cadillac Escalade SUV in a hole-in-one contest, although unfortunately no one was able to land the shot to walk away with the coveted prize. During a raffle at the post-tournament reception, however, one lucky winner was awarded a trip to Brazil.
The sunny autumn weather provided an ideal backdrop for playing conditions at Cross Creek Golf Club, a splendid par-70 parkland golf course designed by the renowned Ault, Clark Associates and located just 14 miles from downtown Washington.
Among those in attendance were doctors and staff of the George Washington University Hospital, officials from the Inter-American De
velopment Bank, a ìdecoratedî team of British diplomats (see photos above), and other officials from the embassies of Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Guatemala, Indonesia, Japan, Malta, Norway Palau, Spain, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Because of the success of this yearís event, The Washington Diplomat is planning a second tournament for 2005. For more information, please contact Jorge Posada at (301) 933-3552 ext. 12.
