Receiving Line: Raising Funds for MS
Washingtonís diplomatic community was honored at the 26th Annual Ambassadorís Ball on Sept. 22 for its contributions to the Washington area and its help in the fight against multiple sclerosis.
The Ambassadorís Ball, held this year at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel, is designed to pay tribute to the diplomatic corps and extend a welcome to newly arrived ambassadors and their families in Washington.
The central purpose of the evening is to raise funds to combat multiple sclerosis, an illness that affects more than 2 million people and their families across the world.
Since its creation more than 58 years ago, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has invested more than $420 million to find the cause, treatments and cure for multiple sclerosis.
ìThis is such a good and important cause,î said Jan Eliasson, Swedenís ambassador to the United States, one of numerous ambassadors who turned out to mingle and support a worthy cause.
