Sackler to Display 4,000 Japanese Woodblock Prints

In a major addition to its already stunning collection of Asian art, this spring the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery received a rich and varied collection of more than 4,000 Japanese prints from the estate of Robert O. Muller.

The woodblock print collection, which Muller accumulated over 70 years, dates from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century and contains prints of both traditional, idealized subjects and modern versions of traditional subjects by such artists as Ito Shinsui, Yoshikawa Kanpo, Natori Shunsen and impressions of works by Kobayashi Kiyochika.

Look for an exhibition of the Robert O. Muller Collection at the Sackler sometime within the next few months.
